Thinking about getting started in portage salarial? Here are the key steps to begin with peace of mind, from checking your eligibility to signing your first contract.

1. Check your eligibility

Portage salarial is designed for autonomous professionals delivering an intellectual service: consulting, training, project management, technical expertise... You generally need a two-year degree (Bac+2) or three years of experience in your field.

2. Find your first assignment

Unlike a temp agency, the umbrella company doesn’t supply you with clients. It’s up to you to prospect and to negotiate your rates and terms. Once the assignment is secured, you pass the details to your umbrella company.

3. Sign your contract

Linkao draws up your employment contract (fixed-term or permanent) as well as the commercial contract with your client. You can then start your assignment fully legally, covered by employee status.

4. Track your activity

Each month, you submit your activity report (CRA) and your invoices. Your umbrella company takes care of invoicing, collection, payslips and social declarations.

Our tips for a smooth start

  • Simulate your net income before setting your daily rate (TJM).
  • Ask about the management fees charged by your umbrella company.
  • Anticipate the gap between invoicing and the payment of your salary.

With Linkao, you start with a clear simulation of your net income — no guesswork, no surprises.
